Another year slips by and the website / blog and I continue on.
2014 turned out to be an interesting year for me personally as my partner and I adopted a little girl. To say life has changed has, of course, been an understatement. Life has changed for the better even if I’d be lying if I also said that I had. Turns out NOT being a nagging, annoying and arsey parent is more difficult than it looks and working on even things that should be simple such as not ‘shaming’ you child do actually take effort, as you find that the instinct (if not the intention) to do so is ingrained. This next 12 months promising to be a continuing learning experience for both us as parents and our daughter as our child. Thankfully we have a good support network and social media has helped extend that – twitter especially – to include a lot of others who understand and listen rather than judging.
The life change meant that my music took a bit of hit last year – put simply, I didn’t really have the time to sit down and write anything, let alone record anything. I did miss it. I will be trying during 2015 to find some time to produce a few new songs – it’s not as if I don’t have any new life experiences to draw on.
This website/blog changed focus – yet again – last year. There has been a noticeable shift to reviewing books. This is likely to continue during 2015, although I expect to continue to write occasionally on libraries, law and the music industry too, as well as politics as the general election approaches. Expect some adoption related stuff too here and there.
At some point during the year I am also planning to totally overhaul the site and give it a new look [trying to get back into coding – I have forgotten most of what I originally learned. A lesson in if you don’t use it you lose it].
I’m also going to try and force myself to write more. Then again , I always say that.
