Whilst relaxing one Sunday night in front of the TV I saw a programme trail on ITV1 for the US Drama ‘Smith’ starring Ray Liotta, which is soon to be broadcast on ITV4. The trail was funny in that according to ITV this is the ‘HIT’ US Drama ‘Smith’ .
Whilst ITV surely knows more about programming that I do, I am at a loss as to how they can describe a series that CBS cancelled after 3 episodes, and which I believe only has 8 completed episodes, as (in any sense of the word) a ‘HIT’
No doubt this is an attempt by ITV to recoup some of the money they paid out in advance for the series. Regardless (Ofcom/ASA if you’re reading) this is – what would have been called in my house growing up – lying. The show was not a ‘Hit’, ITV know this is the case, so they are misselling it in an attempt to get more viewers.
