The 1 January 2005 issue of Partner’s Report for Law Firm Owners by the Institute of Management & Administration (IOMA). has a brief but good piece on ‘Should your law firm start a blog?’ They point out how a blog can be utilised as yet another means of communicating the firm’s mission to clients and potential clients, by directly relating it to the news of the day. Among the benefits they list are:
- It replaces newsletters with a vibrant and quickly updatable form of client communication
- It reinforces your image as professionals who are monitoring your clients’ businesses.
- It enhances client contacts and interaction through comments and replies to postings.
They list some disadvantages too including:-
- Blogs are showing up in lawsuits, both in the material firms put there and in posted comments. Lay out processes to avoid such problems.
