Stop two on the non-alcohol beer trip is that stalwart of UK pubs and bars.
Becks – Blue
Becks is a brewery in Bremen, Germany, which is part of the Anheuser-Busch InBev empire.
(Bad translation alert) “BECK’S Blue brings you the full BECK’S taste with alcohol-free enjoyment. Take the new BECK’S Blue with its new recipe and always keep a clear head, because the best moments arise from clear thoughts. This enjoyable alcohol-free beer is brewed according to the German Purity Law.”
Taste and Smell:
The new recipe seems to have tamed a bit of the metallic aftertaste that used to be ever present in this beer.
The ubiquity of this beer means I have drank quite a bit of it over the years. So, I have probably built up a tolerance for it. If I’m honest, I don’t mind it. Yes, it is totally unremarkable, and inoffensive, but when v cold it is a decent enough thirst quencher (could it be anything else in 275ml bottles?). Will its popularity be enough to get through to the judge’s house stage. I doubt it, but there is always someone there who doesn’t deserve to be, so you never know.
